Two Cabaret reviews have been added to the Press section. Raśl will continue his run as the Emcee in Cabaret through the end of March.

The Kennedy Center has officially announced the casts and schedules for this summer's Sondheim Celebration. Raśl will be playing "George" in Sunday in the Park with George and "Charley" in Merrily We Roll Along. Tickets go on sale on Febuary 11. See the Projects page for more information.

February 8, 2002
The entertainment/magazine program "Latin Access" will feature a segment on Latins on Broadway that includes an interview with Raśl, and is expected to air this weekend. The program will air in New York City on WNBC Channel 4 at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 10. Check your local listings or TVGuide.com for showtimes in other areas.

Playbill Online lists Raśl as one of the performers in an upcoming BC/EFA benefit concert:

Three star-studded concert evenings are planned as fund-raisers for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS in the next few months...A Night of Latin Rhythms featuring the talents of Celia Cruz, Chita Rivera, La India, Daphne Rubin-Vega and Raśl Esparza. Backed by the Jose Bellos Orchestra, the May 6 performance will feature musical arrangements by Ray Santos. Latin Rhythms will be held at B.B. King Blues Club and Grill on W. 42nd Street, and tickets range from $50 to $1,000.

Raśl has been nominated for a Drama Desk Award for his performance in tick, tick...BOOM!. In addition to Raśl's nomination, tick, tick...BOOM! received a total of six nominations: Outstanding Musical, Director (Scott Schwartz), Featured Actor in a Musical (Jerry Dixon), Book of a Musical (Jonathan Larson & David Auburn), Music (Larson), and Lyrics (Larson). See Broadway.com for a complete list of nominees. Winners will be announced and the ceremony held at the F.H. LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center on May 19.

Broadway.com has announced the winners in its Audience Awards poll, and Raśl is the winner in two categories: Favorite Male Breakthrough Performance (as Jon in tick, tick...BOOM!) and Favorite Male Replacement (for his performance in Cabaret). tick, tick...BOOM! was voted Favorite New Off-Broadway Musical. Playbill Online has confirmed rumors of a one-night-only highlights concert performance of this summer's Kennedy Center Celebration.
Those unable to make it to the ongoing Sondheim Celebration at Washington D.C.'s John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will have the chance to catch glimpses of the six Sondheim musicals presented at the famed theatre. On Oct. 21 the Kennedy Center will present "A Concert Spectacular of Musical Highlights Featuring Stars from the Kennedy Center Sondheim Celebration" in New York City.
Raśl is listed as one of the many performers on the bill.

A representative from the Roundabout Theatre Company has announced that Raśl will return to Cabaret in the role of Emcee on September 9; his final performance is scheduled for January 5, 2003. Contracted days off are September 30 and October 21.

Christine Baranski, Melissa Errico, Raśl Esparza, Halley Feiffer, Boyd Gaines, Cady Huffman, Patricia Kalember, Kathleen McNenny and Tony Roberts join the previously announced cast of Alec Baldwin, Ellen Barkin, Matthew Broderick, Kevin Kline, Angela Lansbury, Bette Midler and Chris O'Donnell for Mike Nichols' starry two-night benefit, Short Talks on the Universe.

Daniel Sullivan (Proof) will direct the evening of world premiere short plays at Broadway's Eugene O'Neill Theatre, Nov. 17-18.

Monday December 30, 2002 (evening)

After Cabaret, Raśl will appear in an Off Off Broadway show called Comedians with Jim Dale for The New Group. Daytime rehearsals begin in December with the opening scheduled for January. Click here to access The New Group's website.
